چکیده

This paper focuses on the coordination of multiple robots with kinodynamic constraints along specified paths. The presented approach generates continuous velocity profiles that avoid collisions and minimize the completion time for the robots. The approach identifies collision segments along each robot’s path and then optimizes the motions of the robots along their collision and collision-free segments. For each path segment for each robot, the minimum and maximum possible traversal times that satisfy the dynamics constraints are computed by solving the corresponding twopoint boundary value problems. Then the collision avoidance constraints for pairs of robots can be combined to formulate a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem. Since this nonconvex MINLP model is difficult to solve, we describe two related mixed integer linear programming (MILP) formulations that provide schedules that are lower and upper bounds on the optimum; the upper bound schedule is a continuous velocity schedule. The approach is illustrated with robots modeled as double integrators subject to velocity and acceleration constraints. An implementation that coordinates 12 nonholonomic car-like robots is described.

Coordinating Multiple Robots with Kinodynamic Constraints along Specified Paths

This paper focuses on the collision-free coordination of multiple robots with kinodynamic constraints along specified paths. We present an approach to generate continuous velocity profiles for multiple robots; these velocity profiles satisfy the dynamics constraints, avoid collisions, and minimize the completion time. The approach, which combines techniques from optimal control and mathematical...

Priority-based coordination of robots

This paper addresses the problem of coordinating multiple robots travelling through an intersection along fixed paths with positive velocities and kinodynamic constraints. The approach relies on a novel tool: a priority graph that encodes the relative order of the robots at the intersection. The overall planning approach can be decomposed into two key components as follows. The entry of robots ...

Admissible velocity propagation: Beyond quasi-static path planning for high-dimensional robots

Path-velocity decomposition is an intuitive yet powerful approach to address the complexity of kinodynamic motion planning. The difficult trajectory planning problem is solved in two separate and simpler steps : first, find a path in the configuration space that satisfies the geometric constraints (path planning), and second, find a time-parameterization of that path satisfying the kinodynamic ...

Coordinating the Motions of Multiple Robots with Specified Trajectories

Coordinating the motions of multiple robots operating in a shared workspace without collisions is an important capability. We address the task of coordinating the motions of multiple robots when their trajectories (defned by both the path and velocity along the path) are specijied. This problem of collision-pee trajectory coordination arises in welding and painting workcells in the automotive i...

The ego-kinodynamic space: collision avoidance for any shape mobile robots with kinematic and dynamic constraints

This paper presents a framework to use collision avoidance methods in the majority of existing mobile robots (that have any shape, and kinematic and dynamic constraints). The solution proposed is a vehicle abstraction layer based on transforming the space where these methods work, onto another one in which the constraints are implicitly represented. This space incorporates the vehicle kinematic...
